Considerations When Shopping for a New Riding Helmet
Our staff has been expertly trained and certified in helmet fitting to better assist you in finding the perfect size, shape, and style helmet to meet your riding and safety needs. For a riding helmet to provide proper protection, proper fit is essential. If you are ordering from our website, we can walk you through the process to determine what size to order. Please note that bicycle helmets are under no circumstances suitable for riding.
Choose from our expansive selection of riding helmets including schooling helmets, fully customizable show helmets, and eventing skull caps from brands respected worldwide for their commitment to both safety and style. Schooling helmets, perfect for every discipline including trail riding, are comfortable helmets that meet safety certifications in easy-to-care-for designs. If you enjoy horse showing, a bespoke, customizable helmet may be of interest. If you are an eventer who lives for the thrill of the cross-country course, our eventing skull caps are sure to please.
We recommend that all riding helmets be replaced after a fall, even if there is no outwardly visible damage to your helmet. Riding helmets absorb the force of an impact and interior damage will not be visible to the naked eye. We also recommend that helmets be replaced at least every 5 years to accommodate improving technology as general wear and tear will cause the material of the helmet to degrade over time. To learn more about helmet replacement, please read our How to Tell if I Need to Replace My Helmet blog.
Be sure to store your helmet in a temperature-controlled environment and to check it regularly for any obvious signs of damage or wear, for any cracks, and to be sure that the buckle is functioning properly.
